Job of a Scholar
ArtsBridge Scholars are outstanding University of Utah students who develop and conduct interdisciplinary visual and performing arts workshops in public schools around the Salt Lake Valley. We are looking for a variety of scholars to teach visual arts, dance, film, music, theatre, and more. Students outside of the College of Fine Arts are welcome to apply.
Each scholar will be matched with a teacher in a public school classroom. With guidance from a faculty mentor from the university, the scholar will collaborate with the classroom teacher to develop and carry out lessons for the students during thirty in-school contact hours during the semester. These lessons give students in public schools hands-on experience with the arts that otherwise they might not have.
All registered juniors, seniors, or graduate students meeting the following requirements are eligible:
Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Be able to obtain a recommendation from a faculty member in your department.
Be able to commit 15-30 hours of classroom (plus preparation time) during the semester.
Applicants are also evaluated on enthusiasm, prior teaching experience, and planning skills. Scholarships will be rewarded at the conclusion of the projects.
